The Collaborative Journalism Working Group will connect sister cities Novosibirsk and Minneapolis/Saint Paul through an online portal where journalists and citizens will post articles, photos, and videos, ask questions, and converse. The project will support the production of high quality original journalism. It will enable citizens from both cities to exchange their stories by using new media tools.
The project will be implemented by the Press Development Institute in Siberia, Novosibirsk State University, and Tagya.info in Russia, and Latitude News in the US.
In parallel, the working group’s Advanced Practitioners will undertake an additional initiative that addresses media law. They will conduct research on the legal needs of media companies and develop a framework for exchanges of best practices among Russian and US media lawyers for providing independent media with legal help and facilitating training for media lawyers.
